long and a full 28 inches tall. She is a faithful representation of
the USS WASP (1807) or her sister ship the USS HORNET.
The USS WASP was eventually captured by the British in 1812
and was pressed into service as the HMS Peacock. She is an
18 Gun Sloop of war and mounted all of her guns on a single
deck. The US armed her with sixteen 32lb carronades and two
12lb guns and manned her with a crew of 140. The British sailed
her with fourteen 32lb carronades and two 6lb chase guns and
manned her with a crew of 120.
